LANGUAGE OF ANXIETY

This series of illustrations replaces traditional references to anxiety with regard to self-esteem, body image, security and safety that admit greater complexity by imagining what it would look like if our feelings of panic if they appeared pleasant or pretty.

Paralytic/Analytic is meant to play out as a visual narrative that explores how anxiety manifests itself, by deconstructing the rhetoric of anxiety and representing some of the underlying tensions that often present themselves in the worried mind on a daily basis.

Back to Black by Heather Rosen

Dear Friends,

I fell off the horse!  It hurt.  So I got back on….and now we’re starting at a slow pace, moving towards a steady cantor in artmaking.

You know, I don’t like horse metaphors.

So the truth is: I’ve been letting my mind wander and overcommit to some of my Ad School projects, all the while missing painting, but not painting.  Call it artist’s block, or grad student’s stress, what have you.

But it’s no good - not painting.  So here I am.

At the moment, I am working on a comissioned piece and a new series that explores mixing typography, texture and the relationships between them.

Until then, please enjoy some of the creative work I’ve been doing since we last spoke.

Hero.
